Grand Ball at the Red Horse Tavernformerly the Regimental Ball |
|
|
This is the second evening of contra dancing at the Wayside Inn that the Sudbury Companies of Militia and Minute hold each year. Our first contra dance of the year, the Twelfth Night Ball, was held on January 8, 2010. Check out slides of a past Twelfth Night Ball and Regimental Ball. On April 23, 2010, the main dining room was filled for another great evening of contra dancing and socializing during the Grand Ball at the Red Horse Tavern. Why the Red Horse Tavern? That was one of the names of the inn during its early years. The dances are "called" and start off simple, becoming a little more complicated and elegant as the evening and drink flow. The public is welcome, and, no, you do not need colonial attire or a partner to participate. Now that both of our balls have taken place, you'll have to wait until 2011 for a chance to contra dance in the Wayside Inn. Check next year for our Twelveth Nite Ball and Grand Ball at the Red Horse Tavern. |
