Regimental Ball
|
This is the second evening of contra dancing at the Wayside Inn that the Sudbury Companies of Militia and Minute hold each year. Our first contra dance of the year, the Twelfth Night Ball, was held on January 11.
On April 25, the main dining room was filled for another great
evening of contra dancing and socializing. We honored last year's colonel with his mugs. And we ceremoniously changed
the flag in front of the Wayside Inn, taking down the King's Colors and replacing it with a flag of our own, the Grand Union.
The dances are "called" and start off
simple, becoming a little more complicated and elegant as the evening and
drink flow. The public is welcome, and, no, you do not need colonial attire
or a partner to participate.
Now that both of our balls have taken place, you'll
have to wait until 2009 for a chance to contra dance in the Wayside Inn. Check
back in January for our Twelveth Nite Ball and check back in March for our Regimental Ball.
